Duarte Abrunhosa e Sousa
Duarte Abrunhosa e Sousa has a degree and masters from the University of Porto’s Law School and holds a postgraduate course in Labour Law.
Presently he is preparing his PhD thesis at the University of Santiago de Compostela, supervised by Prof. Lourdes Mella Mendéz.
He is a lawyer with more than twelve years of experience exclusively dedicated to Labour Law and litigation experience in the European Court of Justice. His practice is mainly in-house and is integrated in the team that won the 2015’s European Employment team promoted by ACC—Association de Corporate Counsel and ILO—International Law Office. The same team was also recognized by Legal 500 in its GC Powerlist Iberia.
Furthermore, he is also a researcher at CIJE—Center for Legal and Economic Research of University of Porto’s Law School in the Labour Law Group. Duarte researches also at the University of Santiago de Compostela, where he is one of the researchers on a project about the impact of social networks in work and at ETUI—European Trade Union Institute where he is national expert in a project on posting of workers.
He is an invited lecturer in postgraduate courses on labour law subjects at the New University of Lisbon’s Law School, University of Porto’s Faculty of Economics, International University of Andalucía, University Eduardo Mondlane and University Tor Vergata. Moreover, he has been a speaker in several international congresses, not only in Portugal, but also in Spain, Italy, UK and Lithuania.
Presently he is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Network CIELO Laboral and president of the general meeting of the Portuguese Young Labour Lawyers Association and Law Academy. Duarte is member of the Scientific Committee of the Collection “Social and Company Law” of the Spanish editor Dykinson and author of more than ten published articles and papers in several different countries.
